This week we had a treat--the people who usually host Geshe Michael and Lama Christie's teachings in China came to Diamond Mountain to teach us about the three major philosophical systems in China. They were Master Chen Chao, the teacher; Mr Zou Zhengran; and our old friend Mr. Huang Jin, the translator. While they were here, they investigated every aspect of Diamond Mountain, from yoga, to debate, a dance performance, a visit with the board, even to working hard to help build the lamas' retreat cabin on the hill. In addition to enjoying their company, everyone found the teachings very helpful in understanding Chinese culture, and in comparing it to our own beliefs and habits.
